How to install and maintain bearings?

From the perspective of use, the following points should be paid attention to to ensure that the bearing can work reliably:
1. Improve lubrication quality, control oil pressure, temperature and flow, and strengthen oil filtration.
2. Use fuel and lubricating oil that meet the regulations.
3. Control the temperature state of the diesel generator set. It is unfavorable to work under conditions of overcooling and overheating. In cold weather, the diesel engine should be preheated before starting, and the crankshaft should be turned by hand to allow the oil to enter the friction surface.
4. The surface quality and geometry of bearings and journals should be strictly guaranteed.
5. The bearing clearance must be appropriate. If the generator set is too large, it will cause impact; if it is too small, it will be poorly lubricated and may burn tiles.
How to ensure that bearings work reliably
Generally speaking, you should pay attention to the following points from a usage perspective:
1. The bearing clearance must be appropriate. If it is too large, it will cause impact; if it is too small, it will cause poor lubrication and may burn tiles;
2. The surface quality and geometry of bearings and journals should be strictly guaranteed;
3. Improve lubrication quality, control oil pressure, temperature and flow, and strengthen oil filtration;
4. Use fuel and lubricating oil that meet regulations.
In order for the bearing to fully exert its performance and maintain its performance for a long time, regular maintenance (regular inspection) must be carried out. Through appropriate regular inspections, it is very important to detect faults early and prevent accidents before they occur, which is very important for improving productivity and economy.
Install
Whether the bearings are installed correctly affects accuracy, life, and performance. Therefore, the design and assembly departments must fully study the installation of bearings. It is hoped that the installation will be carried out according to the work standards. Projects for work standards typically include the following:
(1) Clean bearings and bearing related parts
(2) Check the size and finishing of related parts
(3) Installation
(4) Inspection after installing the bearings
(5) Supply lubricant
It is hoped that the bearing packaging will be opened just before installation. General grease lubrication, no cleaning, directly filled with grease. Lubricating oil lubrication generally does not need to be cleaned. However, bearings for instruments or high speeds must be washed with clean oil to remove the anti-rust agent coated on the bearings. Bearings with the anti-rust agent removed are prone to rust, so they cannot be left alone. Furthermore, bearings that have been filled with grease can be used directly without cleaning.
The installation method of bearings varies depending on the bearing structure, fit, and conditions. Generally, since the shaft rotates ly, the inner ring requires an interference fit. Cylindrical bore bearings are usually pressed in with a press or hot-fitted. In the case of a tapered hole, install it directly on the tapered shaft, or install it with a sleeve.
When installed into the shell, there is generally a lot of clearance fit and there is interference in the outer ring. It is usually pressed in with a press, or there is also a shrink fit method of installing after cooling. When dry ice is used as the coolant and shrink fit is installed, moisture in the air will condense on the surface of the bearing. Therefore, appropriate rust prevention measures are required.

Disassembly
Bearing disassembly is a regular maintenance task, and bearing replacement is required. After disassembly, if you continue to use it, or if you need to check the condition of the bearing, disassembly should be carried out with the same care as during installation. Be careful not to damage the various parts of the bearing, especially the disassembly of interference fit bearings, which is difficult to operate.
It is also important to design and build disassembly tools according to your needs. During disassembly, study the disassembly method and sequence according to the drawings, and investigate the matching conditions of the bearings to ensure a foolproof disassembly operation.
Disassembly of the outer ring: For the outer ring with an interference fit, set several screws for extruding the outer ring screw on the circumference of the casing in advance, and tighten the screws evenly while disassembling. These screw holes are usually covered with blind plugs, separable bearings such as tapered roller bearings, and several cuts are set on the housing shoulder. Use spacers to disassemble with a press or tap lightly to disassemble.
To disassemble the inner ring.  At this time, attention should be paid to allowing the inner ring to bear its pulling force. Furthermore, the pull-out clamp shown is ly used. No matter what kind of clamp, it must be firmly stuck on the side of the inner ring. For this reason, it is necessary to consider the size of the shaft shoulder, or study the processing of an upper groove at the shoulder to facilitate the use of a drawing fixture.
The inner ring of large bearings is disassembled using the oil pressure method. Oil pressure is applied through the oil hole provided in the bearing to make it easy to pull out. For large-width bearings, the hydraulic method and the drawing fixture are used together for disassembly.
Induction heating can be used to disassemble the inner ring of cylindrical roller bearings. This is a method of heating a local area in a short period of time to expand the inner ring and then drawing it. Induction heating is also used where a large number of such bearing inner rings need to be installed.
Clean
When disassembling the bearing for inspection, record the appearance using photography and other methods. In addition, confirm the amount of remaining lubricant and sample the lubricant before cleaning the bearings.
a. The cleaning of bearings is divided into rough cleaning and fine cleaning, and a metal grid can be placed at the bottom of the container used.
b. During rough cleaning, use a brush in oil to remove grease or sticky matter. At this time, if the bearing is rotated in oil, be aware that the rolling surface may be damaged by foreign matter, etc.
c. When fine cleaning, slowly rotate the bearing in the oil and do it carefully.
The commonly used cleaning agents are neutral water-free diesel or kerosene, and warm alkali solution is sometimes used as needed. No matter which cleaning agent you use, filter it frequently to keep it clean.
After cleaning, immediately apply anti-rust oil or anti-rust grease to the bearings.
